東北福光みらい館について
The Tohoku Future Light of Happiness Hall
（東日本大震災からの復興と励ましの伝承館）
東日本大震災から半年となる2011年9月、創価学会インタナショナル（SGI）会長の池田大作先生は小説『新・人間革命』第25巻の連載を開始しました。
章のタイトルは「福光」――。
池田先生は、”人類に希望の福光（福の光）を送る旗頭こそ、わが愛する東北の人々”と、”福光”の二字に込めた思いを述べました。
そして、同章の中で語りかけます。
「生命の光彩こそが、人生の暗夜を照らす光なんです。福光なんです」と。
東北の同志は、師匠からの、また世界中の友からの励ましを抱きしめて、今日まで復興の日々を重ねて来ました。
「東北福光みらい館」は、その友が紡いだ希望と励ましの歩みを伝える常設展示として、同震災から6年目の2017年3月、東北国際女性会館内にオープンしました。
池田先生、そして世界の同志の励ましを胸に、東北の友が刻んできた復興の日々が映像やパネル等で紹介（英文表記もあり）されています。
また、震災に負けずに津波跡地に咲いた“ど根性ひまわり”の種も配布しております。
東北の人々の、負けない心、励ましの絆、そして福光の軌跡を未来へと伝え広げ、希望の明日を開いていきたい――本展示が皆様にとって、一歩前へと踏み出す契機になればと、心より念願いたします。
In September 2011, six months after the Great East Japan Earthquake, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda started to publish volume 25 of his serialized novel The New Human Revolution, in the Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai daily newspaper. The opening chapter was titled “Light of Happiness.”
In this chapter, President Ikeda introduces to us this beautiful phrase, the “light of happiness”:
“You, my beloved fellow members in Tohoku, are ‘flag bearers’ imparting the inspiring ‘light of happiness’ to people everywhere.”
And later he goes on to say:
“The brilliance of a life that shines is what illuminates life’s darkness. This is the light of happiness.”
Embracing such words of encouragement from their mentor and from Soka Gakkai members throughout the world, the members of Tohoku have continued to work towards reconstruction of the area to this day.
The Tohoku Future Light of Happiness Hall was opened in March 2017—six years after the Great East Japan Earthquake—and is installed as a permanent exhibition within the Tohoku International Women’s Center.
The exhibition uses videos, panel displays and other exhibits, to enable visitors to learn about the ways in which Soka Gakkai members in Tohoku have been working towards the reconstruction of the area whilst at the same time embracing heartfelt encouragement from their mentor, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda, and from their fellow Soka Gakkai members throughout the world.
Visitors will also come across the seeds of the “indomitable sunflowers”—sunflowers that came into bloom in earthquake-devastated areas, sunflowers which were unbeaten by the tsunami!
The exhibition is also translated into English.
The Future Light of Happiness Hall was launched with the aspiration of opening the door to a future that “brims with hope”—through passing down to younger generations the stories of the people of Tohoku: their undefeated spirit, their heart-to-heart bonds of encouragement and their path towards reconstruction.
We sincerely hope then, that in this spirit, the exhibition will also offer viewers the opportunity to take a step forward in their own lives.

涙があふれて止まりませんでした。みなさん、本当に大変な思いをされて、私は何もできなかったけど、東北福光みらい館で見たことを、神奈川に帰ったらみんなに話します。伝えることも大切ですよね。伝えることから始めます。ど根性ひまわりのタネをもらいましたので、花が咲いたら写真に撮って持って来ます！
“My tears were overflowing nonstop. The people of Tohoku have experienced such deep hardship. Although I was not able to offer any help, I am determined that when I return to Kanagawa, I will talk to each person I encounter about what I have seen at the Tohoku Future Light of Happiness Hall. I feel that passing on what I have learnt here is also an important task. I want to start assisting the people of Tohoku in this way. こんなにも大変な状況下で頑張り抜いてこられた皆様を、テレビ・新聞では見ておりましたが、会場に入らせていただくなり、涙が止まりませんでした。本当に励まされました。ありがとうございました。福島のほうも回って見て来ましたが、まだまだ大変な様子があちこちで見られました。復興を祈っていきます。
“Despite having seen on television, as well as having read in newspapers about the people of Tohoku who endured such tough conditions, I could not hold back my tears once I entered the hall. I was greatly encouraged. Thank you deeply. I also visited Fukushima prefecture but I could see that much of the area was still in need of drastic help.
